Default A terrible subject---what does the state pay?

We live in Oregon. I dont know about other states but the system here seems to be in complere disarray. Constant news articles about abuse, shortage of parents, etc. We are the best parents we know and you can bank on that. I watch 6 year olds walking around their neighborhoods at night and wonder why God gave those parents the gift of a child. We cringe daily at the stories our daughters tell about the lives most of their friends lead. Broken homes, abuse, it makes me ill.

That said, after consulting with our 13 and 17 year old daughters who love the idea, we would very much like to be foster parents to one or two children. I so miss my girls early years and would like to be a part of

I know to bring up money is taboo since its about human beings and not money but so far Ive searched the net, talked to our dept of human services, etc. and not found much information about income. We are not poor but not made of money. We are not doing this to live on the income but we cant afford to take on children if we have nothing to suppliment my employment income.

Can anyone tell me REAL figures on fostering?

It varies from state to state and depends on the age of the children you are fostering. In my opinion it doesn't cover hardly anything and if you are a good "parent" you won't be making any money that is for sure!!! So if your budget is tight I would try to take in one child first and not two... In my state it ranges from about $10 to $16 a day again depending upon the age of the child. The older the child the more $ you get which I think is nuts because diapers are SUPER expensive after awhile!....

I think because the economy is so bad and states dont offer a whole lot of $$ it's really hard to find good foster parents. I hope that you are able to take a little one in and open up your heart! They truly are the BEST!!

WOW! We receive $21 per day...I don't know what it is in Oregon though...also remember depending on which age, you would also qualify for WIC. It's covers formula for babies, cereal cheese peanut butter milk eggs for toddlers. States vary from age 4-5.

In Missouri, we get $15.50 per day, the kids we have do not have health issues, I think it's a little more if health issues are involved. Also they pay mileage for the visitations and doctor appointments and such.

I wish there was a place you could go to see all of the county and private foster agencies in a specific state and their rates per day and what they cover. Would love to find an agency that covers daycare expenses in Ohio
